Not the ony damage, but it was pretty much all like that. Irene was a tropical storm when she was here, became a hurricane the next day and has been growing ever since. Our power was out 18 hours, some people were without "current," as we say here, as long as two and a half days. So pretty small potatoes here. Still, made very impressive noise as the wind howled. Our best to the whole clan!

About us
In 2008 the Baur Family pulled up stakes and moved from Oregon to the Caribbean. Four years later they were on the move again, this time to New Orleans. This blog follows their adventures on their peripatetic lifestyle. We are: John "Ol' Chumbucket" Baur, Tori "Mad Sally" Baur, kids Kate, Millie and Max. For more info, visit our Web site, www.talklikeapirate.com. John "Ol' Chumbucket" Baur is one of the co-founders of International Talk Like a Pirate Day. He, his partner in piracy, Mark Cap'n Slappy" Summers, and his wife Tori "Mad Sally" Baur, have appeared on national television, performed around the country, and just generally made public nuisances of themselves, as good pirates should.
The rest of the crew:
Kate, the anime fan and writer. Millie, the teen, who is now in New York where she's studying at AMDA. At least she says she's studying! Max, 14-year-old boy, an aspiring rocker and parttime thespian.
Co-founder of Talk Like a Pirate Day, I'm a pirate and a writer, earning a living as a reporter and editor for an online news source while trying to write novels. I'm working on my fifth right now.In that time, I have kept a writing log, jotting down notes after the day's work is finished. I've decided to put it online as a blog, if for no other reason than to save the cost of a new notebook.
